Actor Deepika Padukone, who is south Indian by origin, made a name for herself by starring in Hindi films and opposite some big stars. But it was only recently, she had come to be part of some south originated pan-Indian films like Kalki 2898 AD and Spirit. However, now that she walked out of the Prabhas-Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, Deepika Padukone is also out of Kalki 2898 AD’s sequel, as confirmed by the makers recently on Thursday. With this, the only film with a southern connect that Deepika is part of is the upcoming biggie, Atlee and Allu Arjun's film, which is made on a grand scale.

When it became known that Deepika Padukone parted ways with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit film starring Prabhas, the social media was divided into two, each segment supporting one of the parties. Reports said that Deepika’s demands were a little too much to take in by Spirit makers, while some sided with the actor in rightfully demanding her needs, given she is a new mother and has attained a star position.
But with the recent announcement that Deepika Padukone is out from the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD, and the makers stressing that the film ‘deserves that commitment and much more’ and they could not continue the ‘partnership’ with the actor, social media has once again started the blame game. Deepika Padukone has been called out by fans for not having enough to commit to a project.
Deepika Padukone played the role of Sumati (Sum 80) who gives birth to Kalki, the chosen one who is destined to be the saviour. However, not much is known about her role’s fate.

Deepika Padukone is still on track to play a prominent role in the upcoming Allu Arjun project helmed by director Atlee. The project and the Cocktail actor’s involvement were announced long ago. Not much about her role has been unveiled, but made on a big budget, the Atlee-Allu Arjun project will be a creature feature. While a release date is yet to be announced, Deepika Padukone’s only south film for the near future remains to be this.
