Some may call this the RRR effect, but there is no denying that Hollywood is slowly but surely recognising Indian talent. Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli’s hit film RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, recently made history by becoming the first Indian film song to win an Oscar.
And now, news is that Indian composer duo Avinash-Vishwajeet have scored a peppy dance number, called the Great Indian Wedding song, for Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston’s Netflix film, Murder Mystery 2.
King Di Wedding Hai, a Punjabi dance number composed by Avinash-Vishwajeet and sung by Farhad Bhiwandiwala, will feature in the Netflix film which is slated to release on March 31.
It is reported that the duo pitched a song to the makers, and had to rework it based on some specific feedback. Once they changed the feel of the song, King Di Wedding Hai was greenlighted.
The song plays at a turning point in the film and perfectly reflects the mood. The lead pair of the film, Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, feature in the song, dressed in Indian attire.
Speaking to IANS about the film, Avinash said, "We have been working on Indian music across languages for over 25 years, and have even worked on songs with Tina Turner. But this was an amazing experience. Getting Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston to dance to our music was an experience of a lifetime. We enjoyed every moment of it."
Avinash-Vishwajeet will be attending the special preview of Murder Mystery 2 in Paris on March 30 along with the rest of the cast and crew of the film..
The duo began their career in 2007, composing music for Marathi movies. They have so far composed songs for over 75 Marathi, Kannada, Telugu and Konkani films.
Murder Mystery 2 is directed by Jeremy Garelick, with screenplay by James Vanderbilt. It stars Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, who are also the producers of the film. It also stars Mark Strong, Mélanie Laurent, Wilmer Valderrama, Kuhoo Verma and Adeel Akhtar.
The comedy-espionage movie is set to release on Netflix on March 31.
