Producer Raj Kapoor has hoped that the production of Naatu Naatu for the Oscars 2023 will get an Emmy nomination for the song's original choreographer Prem Rakshith.

Composer MM Keeravani's Naatu Naatu was a big hit at the Oscars. The shorter version of the song was recreated for a live dance performance at the 95th Academy Awards. And it made quite an impression on everyone in the audience.

The performance was introduced by Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone. "In addition to being sung in Telugu and illustrating the film’s anti-colonialist themes, it’s also a total banger. It’s got millions of views on YouTube and Tiktok, has audiences dancing in movie theatres all around the world, and is also the first song ever from an Indian production to be nominated for an Oscar," she said and her monologue was interrupted by the frequent cheers from the audiences.

"Do you know Naatu? Because if you don't you're about to. From the film RRR this is Naatu Naatu," she announced at the Oscars. Singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava arrived on the stage with a group of dancers to deliver the performance. About 20 dancers performed the electrifying dance number at the Oscars much to the joy of Indians everywhere. Many hoped that RRR's stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR will give the live performance of their endurance-testing dance moves. But, it didn't happen for various reasons.

The Naatu Naatu performance which was produced in collaboration with the song's original choreographer Prem Rakshith was a bit hit with the Hollywood crowd. "I was bursting with pride. The number delivered on everything that we had hoped for. The impact of an amazing song paired with some of the most dynamic and original choreography to have ever graced the stage of the Oscars," Raj Kapoor, the producer of Oscars 2023, told The Academy.

At the end of the performance, the dance number received a standing ovation from the high-profile guests at the event.

"I believe that "Naatu Naatu" will go down in Oscars history as one of the best dance numbers ever and really hope that we are able to submit Prem, Tabitha and Napoleon for consideration for Outstanding Choreography for the Emmys later this year. It is certainly so well-deserved and shows what happens when people from all over the world come together to create a special moment that will not soon be forgotten," he added.
