After Searching For Sheela, a series on Osho’s first secretary Ma Laxmi is currently in the works with filmmaker Rahul Mittra attached to helm the project.
With its release, Netflix’s Searching for Sheela created quite a stir last week. The show, which revolves around Ma Anand Sheela, traced her life journey along with revealing details during her stint as the spokesperson of the Rajneesh movement
Mittra, who is known for producing films like Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster and Sarkar 3 will be co-producing the upcoming series with Gulshan Grover’s son Sanjay Grover, who has earlier worked in MGM studios in California.
The filmmaker has already obtained the rights of British author Rashid Maxwell’s book The Only Life: Osho, Laxmi and a Journey of the Heart. The story will revolve around the life of an ordinary girl who initiated an international movement that grew around Osho in the 1970s and 80s. Ma Laxmi was elemental in many becoming Osho’s followers.
In an official statement, Mittra said, “Ma Laxmi’s story is what I want to tell and what the world needs to know. I want people to know that for Ma Laxmi, Osho was her only life. Even when her own protege Sheela usurped her, Laxmi’s devotion to her master was total and absolute.”
