In the 75th year of independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's new parliament building on Sunday. This is an historic day in the history of India. On this day, the PM unveiled the plaque and placed the Sengol inside the Parliament house.

In case you were not aware, this is the same Sengol that was accepted by the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru at his residence on the night of August 14, in the presence of several leaders.

The Government of India recently took a decision to adopt the Sengol as a national symbol of the Amrit Kaal.

This remarkable development is being hailed by several people in the entertainment industry including high-profile celebs like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Ranveer Singh to name a few.

Earlier in the morning, Shah Rukh Khan tweeted, “What a magnificent new home for the people who uphold our Constitution, represent every citizen of this great Nation and protect the diversity of her one People @narendramodi ji. A new Parliament building for a New India but with the age-old dream of Glory for India. Jai Hind!”

Soon after this tweet, several politicians from the Opposition party condemned the actor as they felt that the tweet was in favour of the ruling party at the Centre.

Reacting to the development, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has indirectly come out in support of Khan and urged trolls to stop indulging in politics.

Sood wrote in a tweet, “Take pride. Not politics. Proud moment for every Indian. Jai Hind.”

Veteran actress Hema Malini also showered praises on the new Parliament building. She even shared images from inside the Parliament, wherein she can be seen seated along with other parliamentarians.
