The year 1978 saw the release of a film named ‘Don’. The film starred the angry young man Amitabh Bachchan in the title role. The film, which was directed by Chandra Barot, also starred Zeenat Aman and Pran in important roles. The film, gradually went onto become a cult film and formed its own league. Many years later, Farhan Akhtar chose to remake the film and titled ‘Don: The Chase Begins Again’.
The film starred Shah Rukh Khan playing the titular role alongwith Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal and Isha Koppikar who were seen in important roles. Even though comparisons with Amitabh Bachchan were inevitable, Shah Rukh Khan held his own and carved a mark for himself as the suave and smooth operator new age Don. Buoyed by the film’s success, the audiences were then treated to ‘Don 2’, which (once again) saw Shah Rukh Khan playing the titular role.
Things got heated up when Ecel Entertainment’s Ritesh Sidhwani had told PTI that, ‘Don 3’ was very much in the making and Farhan Akhtar was in the process of developing the script. Things furthermore heated up when a report came out which spoke about Shah Rukh Khan’s exit from the ‘Don’ franchise. Thereafter started the hunt and search for the name who will be suitable to play the titular role of ‘Don’.
As per a news in News 18, it is Ranveer Singh who has now been confirmed to play the titular role in ‘Don 3’, according to a source based report. The same report also added that, the film’s makers will be making the grand announcement about Ranveer Singh’s coming on board in the Don franchise soon. Readers may note that, as of now, there is nothing that has been confirmed.
At the same time, a source close to the film’s production told OTTplay that the makers are also considering Hrithik Roshan for the much-coveted role. The demand of the role is that, the hero should be extremely suave, versatile with ‘smooth operator’ being his middle name. And that’s why there was a toss between Ranveer Singh and Hrithik Roshan. The source said that, till the time the makers officially announce the leading man’s name, let’s just wait and watch.
