After a series of controversies, Arindam Bhattacharya’s political thriller Shibpur is all set to release by the end of this month. Based on the real-life incidents and unrests in Howrah Shibpur during the ’80s the film features Parambrata Chatterjee as an IPS officer and Swastika Mukherjee as a widow mafia queen.

Amid the release buzz, it has been reported that Arindam is gearing up with his new film Perfect Murder with Vikram Chatterjee in the lead. According to reports, the film may feature Swastika in the lead with Vikram. Arindam will be the producer of the film. The shooting may start the next month.

Shibpur’s teaser was dropped on Thursday. It opens with a shot of a body hanging in an open market. It is dotted with other violent scenes. In the fish market, human bodies are getting chopped off. Political partymen are being shot at and characters move freely with guns tucked at the waist. Random shooting and murder scenes are being seen.

Shibpur progresses from the perspective of a political journalist associated with a leading daily in Kolkata. They found an interesting story about a woman who dominated the area for a long time but went missing in the late 90s and was never found. An IPS officer was appointed by the then CM to bring the law and order situation under control and played a vital role in bringing stability to the district after a lot of bloodshed. The film delves into the disappearance of the woman. Did her rival groups kill her? Or was there a dark political play behind her disappearance?

The film also features Mamata Shankar, Susmita Chatterjee, Rajatava Dutta, Kharaj Mukherjee, and Sujan Neel Mukhopadhyay.
