It looks like director Bala has resumed the shoot of Vanangaan with the new cast and crew after Suriya's exit from the project. We hear that the director had recently completed the look test on Arun Vijay and that the shoot for the film has begun in Kanyakumari with the new lead cast, Arun Vijay and Roshni Prakash. The current schedule is said to span 25 days Meanwhile a picture of the team from the set has been doing the rounds on the internet. The picture had director Bala and stunt master Silva engaged in a discussion. Music for the film is by GV Prakash Kumar.

The film's leading lady Roshni Prakash is a popular Kannada actress, who has appeared in films like Kavaludaari and Lucky Man. She had earlier been part of Tamil films like Yemaali and Jada.

The team had earlier shot the same portions in Kanyakumari, with the then lead cast comprising Suriya, Krithi Shetty and Mamitha Baiju. After the schedule in Kanyakumari, there were no updates from the crew, leading to speculations about the film's status among fans. Later, in the beginning of December, Bala made it official that Suriya was no longer part of the film.

The official statement said that Bala wished to make a film titled Vanangaan with Suriya, but certain changes were made to the script and after that, he was apprehensive whether the story would suit Suriya. The statement added, " I didn't want to let down my brother who believes in me and respects me a lot. After mutual discussion, we have both decided that Suriya will no longer be part of the film. Though he is upset about the development, the decision has been taken for his own good. We will come together again, just like we did for Nandha and Pithamagan."

Bala and Suriya had come together for the film after 18 long years and Suriya had then stated that he was excited to team up with his mentor. His fans, too, were eagerly looking forward to the film.
