Vivek Agnihotri had recently called out Naseeruddin Shah for talking ill about his film, The Kashmir Files. Vivek said that Naseeruddin might love films on terrorism but the filmmaker cannot stand them. Nana Patekar has now questioned the actor why would he claim that Gadar 2 is ‘disturbing.’ The Sunny Deol starring movie is currently one of the highest grossing films of the year.
What did Nana say?
During his interaction with Times of India, Nana Patekar was asked about his views on Naseeruddin’s comments on Gadar 2. “Did you ask Naseer what nationalism means to him? According to me, showing love for the nation is nationalism and it is not a bad thing,” the actor responded.
What had Naseeruddin Shah said
Naseeruddin Shah had said that he found the popularity of movies like The Kashmir Files, Gadar 2 and The Kerala Story ‘disturbing.’ All the movies have the common ground of Hindus vs Muslims. In these films, Hindus were targetted and lost someone dear to them and Muslims were the ones targeting them. Nana refused to comment on The Kerala Story since he had not seen the film.
Anil Sharma’s reaction to Gadar 2
Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma had reacted to Aaj Tak. He was surprised with Naseeruddin’s statement and clarified that his film is not against any community or country. “I have been a fan of his acting. If he has said so, then I would request him to watch the film once. I have always made cinema with the aim of masala. I have never had any political propaganda in this. Naseer Saheb himself is aware of this,” the director said.
What Vivek Agnihotri had said about The Kashmir Files and Naseeruddin Shah
In his interview with Zoom, Vivek said that he is fond of Naseer and thus, he cast him in The Tashkent Files. The filmmaker feels that off late, the actor has grown old and might feel frustrated with many things. He further said that something about the actor might be getting exposed with The Kashmir Files, ‘since he worked in movies that support genocide.’ Vivek hinted it could be because of Naseeruddin’s religion or something else. “For whatever reasons, maybe he likes to support terrorists, I don’t. I don’t even care what Naseer says because I have zero tolerance for terrorism, maybe he loves them, and I don’t care,” Vivek said during his interview.
