Back in 2000, Amitabh Bachchan’s son Abhishek Bachchan was introduced to Bollywood. Ever since, he has been pressurized to prove himself worthy as the ‘next megastar.’ Now, in 2026, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda made his big screen debut with Ikkis, but is not bothered to take the Bachchan legacy forward. Agastya has a rather valid reason for the same. Here’s why…
Agastya Nanda pointed out the obvious – his surname. He stated that since he does not have Bachchan in his surname, he is not obligated to take the legacy forward and would rather be the first as Nanda to shine on the big screen than try to be the next Bachchan. "I don’t take that pressure in the slightest because I know that’s not my legacy to own. I think my surname is Nanda because I’m my father’s son first. I focus on making him proud, and that’s a legacy I carry very heavily on me. My other family members who are actors. I admire their work, I love their work. But I don’t think I can ever be them. So, it’s not even worth spending time trying to think of it," Agastya told IMDb. For the uninitiated, while Abhishek takes up acting projects and has proven himself as a good actor through various projects, his daughter Aaradhya Bachchan also aims to be an actor in the future.
In a promo shared by the makers of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) 17, Agastya Nanda spoke about how Amitabh Bachchan showed a different side as the quiz show’s host. He spoke about seeing the serious side of his grandfather at home, while he is fun to be around on the quiz show. “I’m enjoying this,” Agastya said when he promoted his movie Ikkis with his co-star Jaideep Ahlawat on KBC 17. The quiz show is now in its finale week, with the first episode of the week airing soon.

Ikkis is one of the most-spoken-about movies because not only does it mark Agastya’s big screen debut, but is also veteran actor Dharmendra’s last ever movie. Apart from Agastya, Jaideep and Dharmendra in the lead roles, the Sriram Raghavan directorial also features Shree Bishnoi, Suhasini Mulay, Sikander Kher, Rahul Dev and Vivaan Shah in pivotal roles.
