Aghathiyaa box office collection day 1: Jiiva’s film tries hard to earn Rs 1 crore, faces competition from Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dragon

Aghathiyaa, the Tamil horror fantasy film starring Jiiva in the lead role, hit theatres on February 28, and has been seeing a dull start at the box office. Directed by lyricist Pa Vijay, the film, despite its extravagant visuals, has not managed to touch Rs 1 crore at the box office on the first day.

Aghathiyaa is a 2025 Tamil film starring Jiiva, Raashii Khanna, Arjun Sarja and others in prominent roles. The film hit theatres on February 28. While the film boasts a stellar star cast, and even has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Aghathiyaa could not perform well at the box office.

Aghathiyaa has managed to collect Rs 76 lakh on day one at the box office. The film is directed by lyricist Pa Vijay in his third directorial debut. However, one has to wait and watch to see if the film will get picked up in the weekend. But on the flipside, there is also Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dragon which released a week prior to Aghathiyaa and has become a blockbuster success. In fact, Dragon has been dominating the box office, with the collections worldwide already exceeding Rs 50 crore.

Aghathiyaa plot, cast and review

The film features an ensemble star cast including Arjun Sarja, Raashii Khanna, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Reddin Kingsley, and others. It is produced by Dr Ishari K Ganesh and Aneesh Arjun Dev. The technical crew of Aghathiyaa includes Dipak Kumar Padhy as the cinematographer and San Lokesh is handling the edits. P Shanmugan is the art director. Besides directing the film, Pa Vijay has also served as the lyricist.

Aghathiyaa revolves around an art director who turns his film sets into a scary house. However, unknown to him, he evokes the spirits from 1940s, as he comes to know that the palace was once the home to French colonial rulers who wronged a Siddha doctor.
