Jayam Ravi's latest outing Agilan, in which the actor was seen in a character with shades of grey, hit screens today. The film, directed by Kalyana Krishnan, stars Priya Bhavani Shankar as the leading lady. Jayam Ravi plays a badass hooligan working under Paranthaman (Hareesh Peradi), who runs an illegal business around the Chennai harbour. The plot revolves around various transactions happening there, both legal and illegal. As Agilan tries to join hands with a rich entrepreneur, the relationship between Paranthaman and Agilan exacerbates and Agilan tries to handle the situation along with the help of ladylove Madhavi (Priya Bhavani Shankar).
This is the first time that Jayam Ravi has done a ruthless character in his career and the actor seems to be receiving brownie points for the same. The audience applauded him for his earnest performance. However, it looks like he is the only saving grace of the film, which has been let down by a weak screenplay.
A user wrote that the film was a huge disappointment and not worth a watch other than Jayam Ravi's performance. A few others, too, have stated that the film's storyline is completely flat.
