Telugu OTT platform aha scored a surprise hit this season with the teenage romance, Tharagathi Gadhi Daati, the official remake of TVF's FLAMES earlier this week. The show directed by Mallik Ram didn't feature big names, landed on the platform without any hype or hoopla and won the hearts of audiences. Featuring Mail actor Harshith Reddy, Kannada actress Payal Radhakrishna in addition to a strong supporting cast comprising Nikhil Devadula, Snehal Kamat, Bindu and Ramana Bhargav, the breezy show had just the right blend of humour, emotions and natural performances.
Commemorating the unanimous responses from crowds and critics all over, aha is organising a success meet bringing together the show's lead cast and crew at Forum Mall (Kukatpally) in Hyderabad today. The meet and greet event will see the show's team answering questions from the common public at the venue. No OTT platform has gone this far in promoting Telugu content among masses in Telugu states and aha is going aggressive with its attempt to capture the imagination of audiences. Given that Tharagathi Gadhi Daati has a relatively young, energetic team, this strategy might as well work for aha to click with crowds. aha had also organised a pre-release promotional event for the show in Hyderabad before.
Tharagathi Gadhi Daati was TVF's second Telugu web production after Commitmental on aha, also a remake of their successful web series Permanent Roommates. Commitmental, directed by Pavan Sadineni, starred Udbhav Raghunandan, Punarnavi Bhupalam and Raj Madiraju in important roles and met with mixed responses upon release. It's not confirmed if anything among Tharagathi Gadhi Daati and Commitmental will be renewed for a second season. aha's next major releases are Kiran Abbavaram's super hit film SR Kalayana Mandapam (August 27) and Santosh Shobhan's The Baker and the Beauty.
