Ahead of Coolie's OTT release, here's how much the Rajinikanth-starrer made in Telugu

Coolie was hyped so much ahead of its release, but it did not live up to all the expectations. Well, the action drama is all set for its OTT release and will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video from September 11, 2025. Ahead of its OTT release, let’s see how much the film made from its theatrical release in Telugu.

Coolie closing collections in Telugu

As Akkineni Nagarjuna was also a part of Coolie, the Rajinikanth starrer was sold for close to ₹90 crore in the Telugu states. Well, Coolie has made only ₹62 crore net to date in the Telugu states, as per the tracking website Sacnilk. This gives a clear idea that the distributors suffered a loss of up to ₹30 crore, which is huge in today’s time.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie had some of the biggest stars from India in key roles. Soubin Shahir from Kerala, Akkineni Nagarjuna from Telugu, Aamir Khan from Hindi, and Sathyaraj from Tamil played key roles in this action drama, but still the film did not do well.

On the other hand, Coolie was released alongside yet another popular Telugu film, War 2. This film was also special as it had Junior NTR making his Hindi debut. Both War 2 and Coolie were dubbed films that had a massive release in Telugu, but sadly, both bombed at the box office. When compared to War 2, Coolie fared a bit better in the Telugu states.

All eyes on Coolie's OTT release

Shruti Haasan played the female lead in the film, which is a proper action drama. Anirudh composed the music for this film, and every song from Coolie was a mass hit ahead of its release. Lokesh Kanagaraj is one of the top directors in the South, and as he was directing Coolie, there was a massive buzz around this film, but sadly, too many expectations brought it down in no time.
