Ahead of Honey's OTT release, here's how much the Naveen Chandra film made in theaters

Naveen Chandra is regarded as one of the most versatile performers in Telugu cinema. Over the years, he has balanced character roles and lead performances with ease. However, his recent film Honey failed to make an impact at the box office and went largely unnoticed during its theatrical run.

Where to stream Honey on OTT?

We at OTTplay had earlier reported that Sun NXT acquired the digital rights to the film for a decent price and will stream it from February 27, 2026. The latest update is that Amazon Prime Video has also secured the streaming rights and will premiere the film on the same date. Once it lands on OTT, Honey will also be available on OTTplay Premium.

The film was directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Karuna Kumar. Known for his intense storytelling, Karuna Kumar, however, could not recreate his past success this time. Honey, a horror thriller with elements of black magic, ended its theatrical run as a box-office disaster.

What are Honey's closing collections?

According to trade tracking portals, the film reportedly collected just ₹36 lakh worldwide in its lifetime run, a highly disappointing figure. In the Telugu states, the numbers were equally poor, and the film failed to sustain even at a basic level. In the US market, Honey was pulled down after just a few shows due to extremely low occupancy.

The film featured Divya Vadthya as the female lead, and the promotional songs had created some curiosity before release. Despite a unique backdrop and a promising genre, the film failed to connect with audiences. 

Karuna Kumar fails to make a comeback

Karuna Kumar, whose previous film Matka with Varun Tej also underperformed, had pinned high hopes on Honey, especially since it was made on a controlled budget.

With its digital release around the corner, the makers are now hoping that the film finds a better reception on OTT. It remains to be seen whether Honey can gain some traction among streaming audiences.
