Superstar Dhanush has scored one more hit in his career in the form of Kuberaa. The Sekhar Kammula film ended as a blockbuster hit at the box office and brought laurels to Dhanush and Akkineni Nagarjuna, who played the main leads in the social drama.
We at OTTplay were the first to reveal that Amazon Prime Video has bagged the digital rights for a whopping price. A few days ago, we also reported that Kubera is all set to stream on Amazon from July 18, 2025. Well ahead of the film’s OTT release, let’s see how much Kuberaa made in theatres worldwide by the end of its theatrical run.

As per the latest trade update, Kubera made a total of ₹ 90 crore net worldwide in its complete run. A chunk of the film’s collections came in from Telugu, as the social drama made ₹ 65 crore. But sadly, the Tamil collections were quite lukewarm, as Kuberaa made only ₹ 20 crore, despite Dhanush being a massive Tamil superstar.
In Hindi, Kubera made ₹ 2 crore, and in Kannada, it made only ₹50 lakhs. This clearly shows that the film was ignored in other languages and clicked only in Telugu. Shekhar Kammula is known for making soft romantic dramas, and for the very first time, he tried something new, and that is the reason everybody loved the film.

Kubera is a social drama and is based on the life of a beggar, played by Dhanush. It showcases how rich people plan a massive scheme and rope in a beggar, making him sign property documents to land a solid deal. Akkineni Nagarjuna plays an ex-CBI officer in this film, and his performance has also been appreciated.
We at OTTplay had already mentioned that Kubera would be out on OTT within a month of its release, as producer Sunil Narang of Asian Cinemas sold the OTT rights well in advance to bag extra money. Rashmika Mandanna played the female lead, and her performance was widely appreciated. But it is Dhanush who stole the limelight and won the hearts of many with his realistic performance.
A section of the audience missed the film in theatres, and we need to see how Kubera is received on OTT. The film has an excessive runtime of over 3 hours and 15 minutes, and there is news that the makers have decided to add a few uncut scenes to the final OTT version. Stay tuned for more updates on the OTT version of Kuberaa.
