Asif Ali-starrer Rekhachithram made waves across Kerala upon its release on January 9, 2025. The film, which emerged to be the first Malayalam blockbuster of 2025 , has notched up another milestone as it crosses the Rs 75-crore mark, as per the makers. The Jofin T Chacko film is expected to land on OTT soon, so how much more will the Asif Ali-starrer will earn?
Rekhachithram, starring Asif Ali along with Anaswara Rajan, won both critics and audience approval. The leading man of the Malayalam thriller film, Asif Ali, shared a poster of the film on Monday which announced that the film has done over Rs 75 crore in worldwide business.
The film continues to run in theatres, and is expected to rake in more money in the coming days with some fans pinning hopes on the first Rs 100-crore club for the leading man. But Rs 100 crore looks like a tall task for the Asif Ali-starrer, given that the film is already nearing its one-month run at the box office.
Basil Joseph-starrer Ponman and Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Oru Jaathi Jathakam were released in theatres last week. Though Ponman especially secured good reviews, it has only been performing decently well in theatres.
The only major Malayalam release this week is Narayaneente Moonnaanmakkal, starring Joju George and Suraj Venjaramoodu, which will hit theatres on February 7, 2025. However, the box office game changes in the next week with several big-budget movies such as Mammootty’s Bazooka releasing in theatres on February 14. Not just the megastar's film, Painkili, starring Anaswara Rajan and Sajin Gopu; Arjun Ashokan's Bromance and Antony Varghese Pepe-starrer Daveed are all releasing next week on V-Day.
Rekhachithram’s OTT release is much anticipated. The streaming rights of the film have been reportedly bagged by SonyLiv . Though an official confirmation is awaited, Rekhachithram is expected to land on the platform once it ends its theatrical run.
