Ashika Ranganath’s release on April 19, O2, is her first collaboration with PRK Productions, a medical thriller in which she plays a doctor who tries controversial treatment to revive a dead person and the fallout thereof. The film also stars Praveen Tej, Raghav Nayak, Siri Ravikumar and Prakash Belawadi, among others.

O2 is not Ashika’s first Kannada release, this year, although, given that Avatara Purusha 2 was much-delayed, it is her major release since 2022’s Raymo. If you are a die-hard fan of the actress and are waiting eagerly for the film to hit theatres on April 19, how about checking out some of her earlier work in the meantime?

Raambo 2

In her own word, Ashika Ranganath describes Raambo 2 as the biggest success of her career and one that really gave her a firm foothold in Kannada films. Paired with Sharan, the film had her play a fun-loving medical student, Mayuri, whose encounter with Krishna (Sharan) leads to some unexpected situations. The film’s music by Arjun Janya was a big hit, with Chuttu Chuttu, a dance number featuring Ashika and Sharan holding the distinction of being the most viewed Kannada song on YouTube.

Madhagaja

In Roaring Star Sriimurali’s last release Madhagaja, Ashika went quite deglam to play a traditional village belle. The actress played Pallavi, Sriimurali’s love interest in the action drama. As is the case with most commercial entertainers, Ashika’s role was restricted to being the love interest.

Avatara Purusha Ashtadigbandana Mandalaka

One of the central plot points of director Suni’s Avatara Purusha is how the Jois family – Rama and Susheela – lose their only son, when the little one goes missing while out to check out a temple fair with his aunt Yashoda (Sudharani). This causes a rift between Rama and Yashoda, which, years later, the latter’s daughter Siri (Ashika Ranganath) tries to close and rebuild their bond, by giving her uncle and aunt what they yearn for – their son Karna. But is Anila (Sharan) whom she presents, really Karna?
