Writer, director and cinematographer Teja, who made a name for himself in Telugu cinema with his unconventional storytelling in films like Chitram, Nuvvu Nenu, Nijam, Jayam and Nene Raju Nene Manthri is back with a new film. His next release is Ahimsa in a genre that has been his forte for long - action romance. The story centres on a boy and a girl with contrasting personalities.

The film is the launch vehicle of producer Suresh Babu’s son Abhiram Daggubati alongside Geethika Tiwary. P Kiran is bankrolling it under Anandi Art Creations. Rajat Bedi, Sadaa, Ravi Kale, Kamal Kamaraju, Manoj Tiger, Kalpalatha, Devi Prasad and others play key roles in the film that has wrapped its shoot, post-production formalities. The makers confirmed its release date recently.

While the film was slated to release in the first quarter of 2023, a few miscellaneous delays forced the team to now opt for a June 2 release. The makers label it a love, action entertainer. Shot extensively around Madhya Pradesh, the project brings together the popular combo of RP Patnaik and Teja again after 16 years (Lakshmi Kalyanam being the last).

Ahimsa also marks the comeback of Sadaa in Telugu cinema after a brief sabbatical. She was recently seen in ZEE5’s web show titled Hello World as well. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is the editor of Ahimsa while Sameer Reddy is the cinematographer. Chandrabose is the sole lyricist and Anil Achugatla is the dialogue writer. Supriya is the art director. Real Satish, BV Ramana have choreographed the action sequences and Shankar is the choreographer.

“The film will be an out-and-out entertainer and has good suspense, thrills and fights. The story is about people with conflicting ideologies. While the guy believes in non-violence and follows the path of Gandhi and Buddha, the girl believes in Krishna’s philosophy. Ahimsa is a story of how their stances change owing to an incident,” director Teja told in a promotional interview.
