Aishwarya Lekshmi of Mayaanadhi-fame has ventured into film production. The pretty actor is debuting as a producer with the upcoming multi-lingual film, Gargi, starring Sai Pallavi, in the lead.

The makers launched the title along with a BTS video, early today. Aishwarya Lekshmi, who is co-producing Gargi, added that she is hoping to be a part of similar ‘amazing stories’ in future.

Gautham Ramachandran of Ritchie fame is directing the film. It is unclear if Gargi will have a theatrical release or take the OTT route.

Sai Pallavi was last seen in Nani's Shyam Singha Roy. Today, May 9, she turned 30 and on this special occasion, Gargi was announced. Taking to Instagram, Pallavi revealed that she has been waiting for a long time to talk about this film.

Touted to be an intense drama about a woman who is fighting for justice, the film is jointly produced by Ravichandran Ramachandran, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Thomas George and Gautham Ramachandran.

Composer Govind Vasantha, cinematographers Srayanti Premakrishna Akkattu and editor Shafique Mohamed Ali are part of the technical crew.

Aishwarya is also awaiting the release of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan, which is expected to be released in 2022. Based on the eponymous classic, the film narrates the life and times of Raja Raja Chola I. “Both parts of the film were shot simultaneously. The shooting began with a scene of mine. But I can’t say anything about my role or the film. I was so nervous and excited about working in a Mani Ratnam film. It took some time to settle down as I was trying hard to impress him. It took time to get used to the big names I was working with,” she told the Hindu.

Aishwarya Lekshmi, who was seen in Dhanush's Jagame Thanthiram (streaming on Netflix), also has Captain, Godse and Gatta Kusthi (along with Vishnu Vishal), in multiple stages of production.
