Aishwarya Lekshmi has been selective when it comes to her films in her career and that has resulted in the actress being one of the top artistes in Malayalam today. Next year, however, the actress is all set for the release of her first movie as the titular charater – Archana 31 Not Out.

The actress, on Thursday, announced that the film, produced by Charlie and Nayattu filmmaker Martin Prakkat, will hit theatres on February 4. Sharing a delightful poster on her social media page that also features Ramesh Pisharody, Rajesh Madhavan, Indrans and Hakim Shahjahan, the actress wrote, “Being able to play the titular character makes this a milestone in my career.”

The movie, which was shot entirely in Palakkad last year, has Aishwarya playing a rustic character. In an earlier interview, the actress had told us, “The aspirations of the character were different from my earlier roles. When I play urban characters, their education is a given, their next meal is a given. I haven’t played a character who is worried about money; maybe Maayanadhi’s Appu might come close but then we see her getting successful by the end of the film. The struggles of this character are different.”

The Varathan and Jagame Thandhiram actress also said that shooting for the movie was a different experience as she was clued in on what was happening and being the lead character, her opinions were given importance. Unlike her previous ventures, Aishwarya had to be on the sets from start to finish of the film. “Archana was a movie that gave me a lot of confidence as an actor,” she had said.

The actress had a stellar year in 2021 with two acclaimed OTT releases – Jagame Thandhiram in Tamil (Netflix) and Kaanekkaane in Malayalam (Sony LIV). She will kick off the new year with the Amazon Prime anthology Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa, which will drop on January 14.
