Aaradhya Bachchan, daughter of actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, has moved the Delhi High Court against YouTube channels who, according to her, are reporting fake news on her health.

Aaradhya and her father Abhishek jointly filed the lawsuit.

The 11-year-old Aaradhya has said in her plea that certain YouTube channels have been using her images and those of her father and other family members to falsely report that she is critically ill, has been admitted to the hospital, or has passed away.

In response, the Delhi High Court today restrained several YouTube channels (Defendants 1 to 9) from sharing videos of Aaradhya. The court has claimed that the channels have been publishing misleading information on Aaradhya. It added that doing this about a child reflects "morbid perversity".

The Delhi High Court has also directed search engine Google to take down false videos about Aaradhya from its platform.

Google is the 10th defendant named in the case.

Speaking on the issue, Justice C Hari Shankar said every child is entitled to be treated with honour and respect. He added that the dissemination of misleading information in respect of a child's health is "completely intolerable in law".

The HC has also asked Google to file a response in which it will state in detail the policies it has on dealing with objectionable content on YouTube.
