Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has joined the ranks of other ACM stars to grace the organization’s official social media accounts. They have posted a part of her from the smash 2008 film Jodhaa Akbar online, along with an official statement.

Jodhaa's bridal lehenga showcased at the Academy Museum

The Academy Museum will be showcasing Jodhaa's bridal lehenga from the film, as revealed by the organization. Designed for the silver screen, this lehenga is fit for a queen. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's crimson wedding lehenga in Jodhaa Akbar (2008) is a visual treat, with its vivid zardozi embroidery, centuries-old artistry, and a real hidden gem. Pay close attention, and you will see a jewel-encrusted peacock—the national bird of India. Instead of creating a costume, Neeta Lulla built a legacy. The Colour in Motion exhibition at the Academy Museum will transport you through time through the medium of colour.

The accompanying video features scenes from Ashutosh Gowariker's film, which stars Hrithik Roshan as Akbar, the Mughal Emperor. Also seen were snippets of the lehenga on a mannequin in its current state.

Previous Indian films tributes by the Academy

Academy members have already released film clips starring Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan. All the way from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Bajirao Mastani to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, these were snippets from popular films.

India at Oscars 2025

On the other hand, Oscar will reveal the nominations on January 17, 2025. In the Best International Feature category, India's Laapataa Ladies is already out of the running. It is now up to Payal Kapadia to secure an independent nomination for Best Director for All We Imagine As Light. Only then can Indians restore their hopes.

The live-action short film Anuja by Guneet Monga is one of several that have made it to the shortlist. The film, which stars Nagesh Bhonsle, brings attention to the pressing issue of child labor in the apparel industry. In 2025, March 3 will mark the 97th Academy Awards.

Aside from Anuja, another British-Indian film, Santosh by Sandhya Suri is still in the running for an Academy Award. The film serves as the British Academy Awards entry and features Shahana Goswami. This year, at the Cannes Film Festival, Santosh had its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section.
