Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been shuttling between different locations for the shoot of Mani Ratnam's upcoming directorial Ponniyin Selvan. The actor plays a double role in the magnum opus and for the same she has been shooting in Hyderabad, Pondicherry, Gwalior among other places. Aishwarya will be seen as both onscreen mother and daughter Nandini and Mandakini Devi in the film. Now, despite being shot with utmost privacy, a photo of the actor from the sets of Ponniyin Selvan has made it to the Internet.

In the photo, Aishwarya looks drop-dead gorgeous while decked up in a heavy pink saree and donned heavy temple jewellery from head-to-toe. She is seen just gearing up for a shot amid a crowd of people include her team as well as the crew members of Ponniyin Selvan.

The shoot of the film is currently underway in Orchha situated in Madhya Pradesh. Ponniyin Selvan will be released in two parts and the first instalment will hit the big screens in 2022.

The much-awaited film features an ensemble cast that includes Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi and Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu and Sobhita Dhulipala among others.

The epic historical action drama is based on Ponniyin Selvan by Kalki Krishnamurthy which was released in 1955. 

Earlier during an interaction with Film Companion, Aishwarya had dropped a hint about reuniting with Mani for Ponniyin Selvan. She had said, "What I will commit to is even though Mani hasn't formally announced it himself, I'm working with him. The word is out so I'm committing to that fact and I don't have to agree. I'll always be more than thrilled, excited, overwhelmed, humbled, and just happy to work with my guru. So, ya that's happening. Back to school."
