Ajaneesh Loknath: Vikrant Rona is my first film with Sudeep sir, so the music had to be extra special
Vikrant Rona is Ajaneesh's first time scoring songs for an Anup Bhandari film and his first with Sudeep

On Thursday, July 28, Kiccha Sudeep’s much-awaited fantasy-action-drama, Vikrant Rona will be in theatres. In the last month or two, just as much as the Anup Bhandari directorial has been spoken about, Ajaneesh Loknath’s music, especially after the Gadang Rakkamma number, the trailer and now Gumma Banda Gumma, has also drawn a lot of attention. Despite the good feedback – Gadang Rakkamma has become one of the most popular tunes for social media reels and everyone's raving about Gumma Banda Gumma - Ajaneesh admits that he's still got butterflies in his stomach.

It's a good tension, though, he says, and not one born out of fear. Vikrant Rona is Ajaneesh’s third film with Anup, having done the background score for Rangitaranga and Rajaratha. This is the first time that he’s also composing all the songs and that too, in a film with Kiccha Sudeep in the lead. A bout of nerves in the run-up to any release is normal, says the music man, but this time, he is more conscious of it because it is Sudeep’s film. “As a team we are conscious about the output in ensuring that it is released in its best form at the right time,” says Ajaneesh, speaking to a digital news media platform.

Although Ajaneesh has scored music for several hit films, with quite a few memorable tunes to his credit, he admits he was looking for that one big project that would make the world take note of his work. And yet, when Vikrant Rona was offered to him, he admits he was taken aback a bit, but then decided to take it as a challenge. “I was a mixed bag of emotions back then – there was fear of handling such a big project, but I was also happy and confident that I could deliver what is expected of me,” he added.
