Ajay Devgn, who will be seen next in Runway 34, a film said to have been inspired by true events, recently spoke about whether real-life incidents are a better way to connect with the audience.
Devgn referenced The Kashmir Files which chronicles the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandit community from the valley and said, "I have done biographical films like The Legend of Bhagat Singh. When you hear stories, some of them are so inspirational. Sometimes, the truth is so amazing that you can’t write fiction like that. The idea is not to hunt true incidents to make a film. But what happens is, when you hear a true story, you feel that the world must know about it. And that’s why we pick it up, otherwise, we create our own stories."
The Kashmir Files is directed by Vivek Agnihotri and has Anupam Kher and Pallavi Joshi. The film's box office collection seems to be heading towards the Rs 200 crore mark, having already minted Rs 190.14 crore, according to Box Office India.
The trailer of Runway 34 was released recently and also featured megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Rakul Preet Singh and Angira Dhar. In the film, Devgn plays a flying prodigy Captain Vikrant Khanna, whose flight takes a mysterious direction after taking off from an international destination.
The film is co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Vikrant Sharma, Sandeep Harish Kewlani, Tarlok Singh Jethi, Hasnain Husaini and Jay Kanujia, and releases on April 29.
Meanwhile, actor was last seen in his digital debut with Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, a Hindi adaptation of the BBC detective series Luther. The show is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
