The shoot for Bholaa, which is the Hindi remake of director Lokesh Kanagaraj's Kaithi has been wrapped up. Bholaa stars Ajay Devgn in the lead in the titular character and also has him doubling up as director and producer. The film is now all set to hit screens on March 30, announced DreamWarrior Pictures, which has co-produced the film. The production house announced, "Shooting has wrapped; the post-production frenzy has already begun. Remember, we have a date - March 30th in the theatres (sic)!" The star cast includes Tabu, Amit Pandey, Sanjay Mishra, Deepak Dobriyal and Makarand Deshpande. Amala Paul and Abhishek Bachchan will be making a special appearance in the film.

The plot of Bholaa revolves around an ex-convict who is all set to meet his daughter after leaving the prison, but gets entangled amid a drug mafia in the process. He also has to drive cops who have been poisoned by the mafia. Will he be able to face the dangers and finally meet his daughter?

The Tamil version Kaithi, which hit screens in 2019, had Karthi in the lead, along with Narain, Arjun Das, George Maryan, Harish Uthaman and Dheena. The film had music by Sam CS and was bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures and Vivekananda Pictures. Kaithi was a huge hit at the box office. Kaithi was selected for screening at the International Indian Film Festival Toronto (IIFFT) in 2020. The film was released in Japanese and in Russian as well last year. Kaithi later became part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. The story was followed up in Lokesh's last directorial, which had Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan in the lead. The film emerged as one of the biggest hits of Kamal Haasan's character. Lokesh Kanagaraj is now gearing up for his next with Vijay, which is tentatively being referred to as Thalapathy67.
