Producer Boney Kapoor, who has a slew of films in his kitty in Tamil, including Udhayanidhi Stalin's Nenjukku Needhi directed by Arunraja Kamaraj, which releases this week, Veetla Visheshanga (remake of Badhaai Ho) and Ajith's next with Vinoth, tentatively referred to as AK61, says that he owes it to Ajith for turning producer of Tamil films.
In an interview given to an online portal, Boney Kapoor was quoted saying that he owes a lot to Ajith for turning into a Tamil film producer. He said that it was really courageous of him to accept a film like Nerkonda Paarvai (remake of the critically acclaimed Hindi film, Pink starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapse Pannu in the lead) and do that role. He added that Ajith gave him all the support and backing, and bonded well with him and that it was because of the actor that Boney was where he was in the Tamil film industry. He also hoped that his association with Ajith continues in the long run.
Boney added that he began his career as an independent producer by remaking a south film and that the southern film industry has contributed a lot to his journey in films.
On the updates regarding AK61, Boney stated that around 35 days of shoot have already been completed and the entire portions are likely to be wrapped up by July. The film is expected to hit screens for Diwali.
Ajith will be seen in a dual role in AK61, which is billed as a heist thriller and has Manju Warrier playing the leading lady. Ajith is already busy shooting for his portions and Manju Warrier is expected to join the sets soon. This will be Ajith's third consecutive film with director H Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor. He had earlier teamed up with the duo for Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai.
