Akhanda 2 is one of the most awaited films in Telugu cinema, as director Boyapati Sreenu and Balakrishna have teamed up for the fourth time. The makers promoted the film aggressively, and fans were eagerly waiting for Balayya's Thaandavam. But things went sour at the last minute, as the film failed to release on the scheduled date of December 5, 2025.
There was a lot of chaos surrounding the release, but the makers finally cleared the air by posting: "With a heavy heart, we regret to inform you that #Akhanda2 will not be releasing as scheduled due to unavoidable circumstances. This is a painful moment for us, and we truly understand the disappointment it brings to every fan and movie lover awaiting the film. We are working tirelessly to resolve the matter at the earliest. Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused."
But what were the reasons behind such a big film being stalled at the last minute? We have all the answers.

Eros Entertainment, which partnered with the makers of Akhanda 2, 14 Reels Plus LLP, on Mahesh Babu's Nenokkadine, filed a case in the Madras High Court to stall the film's release until 14 Reels cleared the debt amount of ₹27 crore owed to Eros. After reviewing the case, the Madras High Court issued a stay order on the film and restrained its release on any medium.
This news slowly spread on Thursday, and such controversies are common with big Telugu films, as last-minute financial issues often arise. But neither Balakrishna, who is now part of the TDP government, nor the makers could resolve the issue, as it is currently under the court's jurisdiction.

Initially, the premiere shows were cancelled, upsetting everyone. The confusion escalated when booking portals still allowed people to book tickets. But late at night, the makers officially announced that the film had been postponed.
The news is that the main lead, Nandamuri Balakrishna, is extremely upset with how things unfolded in the last few hours and has reprimanded the producers. Even he can do little, as the issue is financial.
A source close to the team revealed that the makers have finally cleared the dues and will approach the court today to vacate the stay order. This process will take half a day, and there is talk that Akhanda 2 might be released by the night of December 5, 2025.

There is also news that Balakrishna, frustrated by the ongoing drama, has asked the team to postpone the film to a later date. Fans are distraught and are waiting to know when the film will be released in the first place.
