Akshay Kumar spoke up about his most recent movies' poor box office performance. The box office performance of his last three movies, Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, and now Raksha Bandhan, has been dreadful. During the premiere of the Cuttputlli trailer, Akshay responded by accepting that he must comprehend the audience's wants.

According to Hindustan Times, Akshay said, “Films are not working, it is our fault, my fault. I have to make changes, understand what the audience wants and there is nobody else to be blamed for it but me." On the other hand, the actor's most recent film, Raksha Bandhan, has been faced with social media boycotts.

When questioned if stars nowadays are choosing OTT ventures rather than theatrical releases to establish a secure zone for themselves after box office setbacks during the media engagement, Akshay responded “It is not safe, that also requires people to say if they like the trailer or not. Nothing is safe, it is not our safety net. Even here (on OTT) people are watching, the media is watching it, the critics are watching it, the audience is watching it, and they give feedback whether they like it or not. So, there’s nothing like creating a safe space, you have to work hard, period.”

Akshay is one of the busiest performers, and he has a slew of roles coming up. He had two consecutive releases. He also emphasised how many movies were produced during the pandemic, noting that many of them couldn't be watched due to theatres being closed as well as there were significant problems with the lockdown. He continued, "Hum kaam karte rahein, filmein jamaa hoti rahi (We kept working, movies kept stacking up )."

In addition, Akshay noted that there might have been at minimum a two- to four-month delay among his films if there hadn't been a pandemic, as he had finished four films but they had been unable to release in the previous two years.

The next film Akshay will appear in is Cuttputlli will be made accessible on Disney+ Hotstar's OTT on September 2. Along with this, he also has Ram Setu and Soorarai Pottru, the Hindi version of Suriya's successful Tamil film.
