Akshay Kumar, who is currently promoting his upcoming movie Bhooth Bangla, spoke about the massive Dhurandhar craze. The actor was a part of India Today Conclave, where he discussed a range of topics, including what he feels about Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh’s movie. He states that while there’s a certain regret, he isn’t jealous of Ranveer having bagged the lead hero role in the movie.

At the forum, Akshay praised Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. While speaking about how Dhurandhar is the demand of the theatre-goers, Akshay said, “Take a film like Dhurandar, for example. It is a complete action film with violence. Logon ne… they have lapped it up, they have enjoyed it.”

The duo, who have already worked on multiple projects including Simmba, Sooryavanshi and Singham Again, are seen as actors who are fond of one another. While speaking about how a movie like Dhurandhar could have come his way too, Akshay shares, “Regret is only that maybe I could have done it too. Lekin jalan nahin hoti.” He believes that there is space for everyone to act. “We are around 15–20 actors and around 180 Hindi films are made in India. So everyone gets roles,” he stated.

Akshay Kumar on changing film trends in Bollywood

The actor continued speaking about the changing trend with films. He recalls how just half a decade back, he was successful with all the movies around social causes which he picked up. “Maine social films ki thi — Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Pad Man. Woh bahut chalti thi,” he recalled. Soon after, the horror-comedy genre was in demand (where Akshay joined the franchise with Stree 2), and now, it is a movie like Dhurandhar that the audience applauds.
