With his brand-new movie Selfiee, Akshay Kumar has begun 2023 after having a depressing year at the box office in 2022. The film also stars  Emraan Hashmi and Raj Mehta directed the movie, which released in theatres Wednesday, February 24. Akshay sat down for a thorough interview with a top news outlet before to the release of the movie; a portion of it has already been posted online.

A promo of the interview, however, is making the rounds for all the incorrect reasons. Recently, the promo that shows Akki sobbing after being questioned about his mother surfaced. The video in issue was taken from the same interview with Akshay Kumar on the news channel, and the journalist's query is what caused it to become viral. Akshay Kumar was asked, "Jabse aapki maa gayi hai, tabse aapki koi film hit nahi hui," during his appearance on Aaj Tak's Seedhi Baat show. But not long after, he started crying.

Netizens are now bashing the journalist for being insensitive towards the star. Reacting to the video, a user wrote, “That is so shameful. Why would you ask someone such a heartbreaking question? Akshay seems so uncomfortable in answering that. There needs to be some limits. Shame!” Another user wrote, "Clearly. Planting this in his mind is criminal too. How can one frame such a disgusting question unless he is corrupt with emotions."

Meanwhile, Akki's recent film, Selfiee, directed by Raj Mehta, is an official hindi remake of the Malayalam film 'Driving License' which starred Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi, Nushrat Bharuccha, and Diana Penty play the lead characters in the hindi adaptation. It's backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Production along with Magic Frames, Prithviraj Productions, Cape of Good Films and Star Studios.
