The complete ensemble of the upcoming film Kesari: Chapter 2—Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, R. Madhavan—along with producers Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra, and director Karan Singh Tyagi—were in Delhi on Thursday morning to debut the trailer. Exciting and packed with thrilling moments, the trailer captivated the current audience.
Akshay Kumar's controversial dialogue in the teaser
Everyone heard Akshay's character scream a powerful "F**k you" in the previous teaser. Many people are talking about it. The actor, who plays lawyer C Sankaran Nair in the film, faced questions about his on-screen utterances.
To which he stated, "Haan, maine yeh word use kiya. Lekin voh jo word use kiya tha (for Indians in the trailer) ‘You are still a slave! – was that not a gaali for you? I think usse bade gaali aur kuch ho nahi sakti. I would have been happy if you had said something about using the word ‘slave’ rather than you talking about me saying ‘f**k you’. Mere hisaab se agar aise time pe hum logon ne goli bhi maar di hoti na toh bhi chhota rehta."
Which loosely translates as "Yes, I used that word. But the word that was used (for Indians in the trailer)—'You are still a slave!'—wasn’t that abuse for you? I don’t think there can be a bigger insult than that. I would have been happy if you had said something about the use of the word ‘slave’ rather than talking about me saying ‘f**k you’. In my opinion, even if we had shot someone at such a moment, it would still have been a smaller reaction."
Meanwhile, the Sankaran family, whom Akshay invited to the stage later in the event, were also present for the trailer launch.
Film's historical context and release date
The terrible massacre at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar in 1919 is the centre of Kesari: Chapter 2, which is slated to be released on April 18, 2025.
