Akshay Kumar faces backlash for his pan masala ad despite his earlier apology; Here's why!

Akshay Kumar is one actor who is always known for his fitness and a clean lifestyle, that’s devoid of any vices. That’s why, a few months ago, when he had endorsed a pan masala brand, it met with immense backlash from almost everyone. Sensing the backlash, the ‘Khiladi’ actor took to social media and wrote an apology in which he stated that he was sorry and that he was wanting to apologize to all his fans and well-wishers. He added that he had not and would not endorse tobacco and that he had decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause.

But, during the World Cup cricket match between India and Australia which took place yesterday (Sunday), ads of the same brand of pan masala were being aired. The said ad featured the brand’s ambassadors Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan. The social media went into a shock when they saw Akshay Kumar also being featured in the same ad.

Netizens upset with Akshay Kumar

In no time, many of the netizens seemed to have lost their cool and they started trolling Akshay Kumar for not having kept his commitment to his decision of not endorsing tobacco. While one angered netizen wrote, “#AkshayKumar stepped back as Vimal ambassador after getting backlash from neutrals.. now again doing vimal ads!! paiso ke liye kuch bhi kar skta hai ye banda”, there was another who termed Akshay Kumar as a hypocrite. He had commented stating, “Vimal new ad feat Ajay Devgn, Shahrukh Khan and hypocrite Akshay Kumar”.

There was another netizen who wrote, “[HYPOCRISY EXPOSED] Last year Akshay Kumar featured in a Vimal Gutka advertisement, then he faced outrage from common people. That anger led him to the tweet & he said that he will return all the money of advertisement and will never do that again in his life. Now after a year, he is back with Vimal ad once more & as per sources he never returned the money to Vimal company. He has done a fraud with his fans and common people, who idolize him”.

On the professional front, Akshay Kumar was recently seen in the film ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue’ in the role of Jaswant Singh Gill, the man who rescued as many as 65 miners at the Raniganj Coalfields. Besides him, the film also stars Parineeti Chopra as the leading lady.
