Akshay Kumar has made a name for himself as one of the busiest stars in Bollywood. The actor is known for taking on multiple projects at a time, finishing them off at lightning's speeds as quick as 40 days, and moving on to his next. Recently, R Madhavan, whose film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect recently released in theatres, criticised actors who finish a film within a span of three months. Many seemed to think that Madhavan’s comments were a dig at Akshay’s work ethic. The latter recently responded to the comments in his own witty way.
During the music launch event of his upcoming film, Raksha Bandhan, Mashabale quoted Akshay’s response to a question about Madhavan’ comments. Akshay said ““Kya kehna chahunga? Bhai meri filmein khatam ho jaati hain main kya karoon?” The actor said that there was nothing he could do if he happened to wrap up his films that fast. Akshay also hilariously added that it was not like he could fight a director who told him to go home after his work was done, saying “Ek director aata hai kehta hai bhaiya aapka kaam khatam aap ghar jaaiye toh ab main ussey ladoon?”.
His Raksha Bandhan director Anand L Rai, who was also present at the launch, also came out in support of Akshay. The director spoke of how the comments gave out the wrong notion that an entire film can be wrapped up within 40- 45 days. But when calculated properly the filmmaker said that his films took at least 80-90 days for completion fully.
For the uninitiated, Madhavan had said that finishing a film within a span of three months was a “sure-shot recipe for a disaster”. The actor had spoke of how successful films such as RRR, Baahubali, Pushpa, Gangubai Kathiawadi, KGF: Chapter 2 and The Kashmir Files had been a ‘labour of love’ that the team behind them had worked on ‘for years’.
