Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif’s Sooryavanshi earns spot in Netflix global top ten list

After putting up a commendable performance in theaters, Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi seems to be on its way to dominate the digital platform as well. The Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif led film has made it to Netflix’s Global Top Ten list in terms of viewership.

The action thriller film was released on Netflix on December 3, almost a month after its theatrical release on November 5. The film had witnessed a huge success at the box office,making over Rs.193 crore.

Sooryavanshi managed to translate its commercial success in the digital sphere as well. In a span of less than three days after its OTT release, the film had garnered over 71 lakh viewership hours and earned a spot on Netflix’s Top Ten list in its opening week.

The list considered viewership hours in the week from November 29 to December 5, and Sooryavanshi had bagged the fifth position. The Top Ten list of the streaming giant also featured Kartik Aaryan’s Dhamaka in the ninth spot.

Sooryavanshi is the fourth installment in Shetty’s cop universe franchise. The film tells the story of DCP Veer Sooryavanshi (Kumar), the chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad who tries to thwart a deadly terror attack in Mumbai. The film also features the appearance of characters from Shetty’s other films namely Inspector Sangram Bhalerao (Ranveer Singh) and DCP Bajirao Singham(Ajay Devgn). The latter two were the protagonists in the films, Simmba and Singham respectively.
