Akshay Kumar is known for the speed with which he completes the shooting of his projects, often before the scheduled time. The actor has a number of projects in the line-up and he's already wrapped the shoot of Raksha Bandhan and Ram Setu among his upcoming films. However, despite announcing that he'll be making his OTT debut with Amazon Prime Video's The End, back in 2019, the actor has not even started shooting for the show yet.
During the promotional interviews of his last release Bachchhan Paandey, Akshay was quizzed about the same. The actor had then told mediapersons in a group interaction that they were to start shooting for the web series in 2022, however the team wasn't satisfied with the screenplay.
Now, in his recent interaction with the Hindustan Times, the actor was asked for how much longer will the fans have to wait to see him making his web series debut and if he's come across any other interesting projects in the OTT space. Responding to the same, Akshay said that writing the content for OTT is quite different from writing a feature film as there's a lot of depth that goes into writing a web show. "You have to keep in mind a multi-season arc while writing to have the germ of the following seasons ready in case the first one works," he was quoted as saying.
Further talking about The End, the actor mentioned that with this show in particular, they are attempting to do something which has never been done in the Indian space. "The story, the technology, the characters... we are trying to make the kind of content that pushes the boundaries as we know it," he said, adding that the good news is that he will start shooting for The End in the first half of 2023.
As per reports, The End is touted to be a futuristic action thrillar mounted on a scale that has never seen before in the Indian OTT space. Set against the backdrop of an alternate futuristic timeline of the universe, The End is reported to be an edge-of-the-seat 'survival thriller'.
On the work front, Akshay will next be seen in Prithviraj with Manushi Chhillar who will be making her Bollywood debut with the film. Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the historical action drama is producded by Yash Raj Films and is slated to hit the silver screens on June 3, 2022.
