Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh is running successfully in theaters. Starring Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R. Madhavan, the film has already crossed Rs. 40 crore at the box office. For the unversed, the film is a sequel to the 2019 film Kesari, which was based on the Battle of Saragarhi, however, the second instalment is a courtroom drama focusing on the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Now, in a new interview, filmmaker Karan Singh Tyagi confirmed that Akshay will headline all Kesari franchise films.
Speaking to News18, Karan Singh Tyagi revealed that they didn’t have a title for Kesari Chapter 2 for the longest time, but then Akshay Kumar came up with the idea of naming it Kesari Chapter 2.
"I think it was a great suggestion. We unanimously jumped on the idea that Kesari Chapter 2 is indeed the perfect title. For us, Kesari signifies the colour of revolution and a story of valour and bravery of an unsung hero of India. It’s a title that does complete justice to the film and narrative. There are so many stories of unsung heroes in this country that are revolutionary in nature," he said.
Speaking about the upcoming instalments, Karan shared that Akshay will continue to headline all of them. He said that there will be several such stories that will bring forth more unsung heroes to the audience.
"There will hundred percent be more instalments and films in this franchise. And Akshay will spearhead them all. He’s synonymous with Kesari and with stories of unsung heroes and their bravery and sacrifice, and he has done such a remarkable job in this film," he said.
During an interview with Filme Shilmy, director Karan Singh Tyagi admitted that they have included the f-word after a good research and discussing important things with historians. He also added that it was very important to include the ‘f**k you’ in the film because, "the whole point was to look the British in the eye and say ‘f**k you’ for what they had done. That was the courage we imbibed from Sankaran Nair’s story, and it’s the same courage we wanted to depict.”
