It has been a long wait, but Akshay Kumar's Kesari: Chapter 2 has finally minted Rs. 100 crores. Yes, it has shown a similar trend like Sunny Deol's Jaat and entered the mighty Rs. 100 crore club, but that has happened only after the second weekend and only worldwide. Jaat kicked off the trend, and Kesari 2 follows suit.
Aitraaz actor Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2 has managed to earn Rs. 100 crores in its second weekend, but even that is in terms of worldwide Box Office collection. The movie earned Rs. 93.50 crore gross by Saturday, according to Sacnilk. It minted additional Rs. 10 crore on Sunday, thus taking the Box Office collections to over Rs. 100 crore mark.
Gadar 2 actor Sunny Deol's Jaat was the one to set the trend of entering Rs. 100 crore club worldwide after the second weekend. Kesari 2 simply followed suit. Salman Khan's Sikandar was the original film that earned Rs. 100 crore after its second weekend. However, for Sikandar, the movie earned Rs. 100 crore net after its second weekend, thus leading the pack.
While Kesari 2 has minted Rs. 100 crore worldwide (nearly Rs. 70 crore net), Emraan Hashmi's Ground Zero struggles by staying in single digit earning. The film, starring Azhar actor Emraan Hashmi in the lead role, has earned Rs. 5.20 crore at the Box Office.
Kesari 2 faces direct competition from Emraan Hashmi's Ground Zero, but given how the movie is earning, there is barely any competition. Pratik Gandhi's Phule is also out in theatres and is earning on a similar scale as Ground Zero. The biggest competition comes in the form of Aamir Khan-Salman Khan's cult classic Andaz Apna Apna, which has re-released in theatres. Thus, the footfalls are divided, benefitting almost none of the movies in particular.
