Neeraj Pandey's Special 26 is one of the most appretiatied films. The film, which is set in the early 1980s, is based on the actual theft of 1987, when a con artist posted as a CBI agent and carried out an income tax raid on the Mumbai Opera House branch of jewelers Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri.

Anupam Kher featured as a phony income tax official, and Akshay Kumar portrayed the character of fake CBI officer Ajay Singh. Manoj Bajpayee, Jimmy Shergill, and Kajal Aggarwal also acted in the movie.

Anupam Kher reveals big update on Special 26 sequel

Recently, in an interview with News18, Anupam Kher dropped major hint about the possibility of a Special 26 sequel. He was quoted as saying: “This is one of the questions I’ve been wanting to ask Neeraj (Pandey) for so many years. Every time he’s asked about it, he turns around and hides his face. I’ve been after him to make a sequel to Special 26. He keeps making multiple seasons of his web shows and he should make a second part of Special 26 too because it deserves a sequel. But it seems like he isn’t excited to make it (laughs). Hopefully, it will happen soon. It will happen in time."

Earlier, Kher and Akshay Kumar discussed its sequel on X (formerly Twitter). Akshay wrote, "I’m ready if the script is ready. Asli power script mein hoti hai :)”

In films like Baby, Naam Shabana, Desi Boyz, Jaan-E-Mann and Aflatoon, the two actors have earlier collaborated on screen.
