Akshith Shashikumar, the son of veteran Kannada actor Shashikumar, had his second release this year, Oh My Love, in which he was paired with Keerthi Kalakeri. The film, though, was a box office failure, and, like his debut Seethayana, did not give his career a boost. At the time, Akshith had said that as a newcomer, he was prepared for this adverse outcome to his film. Speaking to the Times of India, he’d said, “I knew that I would either create something exciting, it would be average or it could even fail to take off. I did my best as an actor. I got many calls, especially from rural areas, appreciating my good work, which gave me the confidence to carry on the good work. I see failure as a stepping stone for success, instead of dwelling on things that have already happened.”
The actor had also said that his personal learning from the failure of Oh My Love is the value of marketing and promotions and that going forward, he will focus on these aspects of his upcoming projects. There is still no word on Oh My Love’s OTT outing, but today, the team released a video song, which is normally an indication of a film’s impending streaming or satellite debut. The romantic number Enaytho Kaane, composed by Charan Arjun, written by V Nagendra Prasad and sung by Yazin Nazir and Anuradha Bhat has been released. The song, shot at a college, is about the romance that’s blossoming between Akshith’s character and that of Keerthi, much to the chagrin of the other ladies on campus.
Akshith, meanwhile, has announced his next project, a film called Chaos, in which he is paired with Aditi Prabhudeva. The film directed by Venkatesh Prasad, has a story inspired by true incidents and unravels in a medical college campus.
