Alappuzha Gymkhana: Lukman Avaran promises Naslen-starrer will be a comedy entertainer

Malayalam cinephiles have much hopes about Alappuzha Gymkhana as its stars Premalu actor Naslen K Gafoor and is directed by Khalid Rahman who has helmed several popular films, including Tovino Thomas’ Thallumaala. Alappuzha Gymkhana also features Ganapathi S. Poduval and Lukman Avaran in key roles. The posters of the lead cast, featured the actors in a boxing attire, piquing the curiosity of the viewers. Now, Lukman Avaran, who is a part of Alappuzha Gymkhana in a key role, has confirmed that the upcoming Malayalam film is a comedy entertainer and also revealed his role.

During the launch of his next project Athibheekara Kaamukan, Lukman Avaran also spoke about his upcoming film Alappuzha Gymkhana. 

"It is not an action film. This is a comedy film. But if you ask if it has action, there will be action," said Lukman. 

The actor further revealed that he will be seen in the role of a coach in Athibheekara Kaamukan, which is likely to release on April 10, 2025, as per reports. Notably, Mammootty’s Bazooka is also scheduled to hit theatres on the same date as a Vishu release.

 Apart from Naslen, Ganapathi, and Lukman Avaran, the film also features Sandeep Pradeep, Anagha Ravi, and Franco Francis. The film, which is also written by Khalid, has music by Vishnu Vijay, who had also composed the popular songs of Thallumaala, and Premalu. Athibheekara Kaamukan has cinematography by Jimshi Khalid.

The Naslen-starrer marks Khalid's next film after the popular Thallumaala, starring Tovino Thomas. Lukman was also a part of Thallumaala which was especially noted for its stylish songs. Kalyani Priyadarshan played the female lead opposite Tovino in the film, which is currently streaming on Netflix. 

On the other hand, Naslen starred in Premalu last year, which earned him the tag of a young star. Girish AD’s film, which also stars Mamitha Baiju, is now available for streaming on JioHotstar. Naslen also starred in Girish AD’s I Am Kathalan in 2024, but the film could not repeat the success of Premalu.
