Alia Bhatt competes with Samantha to be the most popular female star across India – see full list

Alia Bhatt and Samantha are neck-to-neck when it comes to the most popular female star across India. While Samantha made her debut in Hindi recently, Alia debuted in Telugu not too long ago. Currently, they are neck-to-neck, with Samantha at the first position and Alia coming a close second.

Samantha, already a well-known name in Telugu, grabbed eyeballs ever since her special number in Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise. She then made her Hindi debut with Manoj Bajpayee’s The Family Man 2 and instantly became a name to watch out for.

Alia, on the other hand, is a star in Bollywood. She made her debut in Telugu with the iconic RRR, helmed by SS Rajamouli. Before her debut, Alia brought Bollywood back on top with Gangubai Kathiawadi. Post RRR, she broke records with Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. The movie starred her husband Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role with her.

Nayanthara, often called boss lady, ranks in top three. She is the third most loved actress, beating the likes of Deepika Padukone. Prominently a Tamil film actress, it is to be noted that Nayanthara, too, will make her Bollywood debut soon. She will be seen in Atlee’s Jawan opposite the King, Shah Rukh Khan.

Although Deepika had a major release in Pathaan in January itself, she could not beat the stars and came in top five. She is the fourth most loved actress.

Kajal Aggarwal, who has been MIA in movies, has been enjoying her time as a new mother. She, however, is producing one of the biggest projects – Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2. She is the fifth most loved actress still.

Trisha, who had one of the bigger Tamil movies of 2022 aka Ponniyin Selvan: I, is sixth on the list. She is currently awaiting the release of her other franchise film Ram: Part 1, featuring Mohanlal in the lead role, apart from Ponniyin Selvan: II.

Tollywood sweetheart Rashmika Mandanna too made her huge Bollywood debut in 2023. She was seen as the female lead opposite Sidharth Malhotra in Mission Majnu. The actress is the seventh most loved.

Katrina Kaif is the third Bollywood actress to make it to the list. Unfortunately, she did not make it to top five, unlike Alia and Deepika. Nonetheless, Katrina is still one of the most in-demand Bollywood actress, considering how her much-awaited film Tiger 3 opposite Salman Khan is up for release.

Anushka Shetty, despite her last on-screen appearance in 2020 with Nishabdam, makes it to the list. She is the ninth most loved actress. Currently, she is shooting for an untitled Telugu film opposite Naveen Polishetty.

Keerthy Suresh, last remembered for starring opposite Mahesh Babu in Sarkaru Vaari Paata, is 10th on the list. She currently has various projects at hand including Chiranjeevi’s Bhola Shankar and Nani’s Dasara.
