Alia Bhatt has finally spoken about the nepotism and through it, the boycott Brahmastra debate. The actress was touted as the best actress in Bollywood after she delivered a great performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. Alia has now taken that example in order to troll the trolls.
The actress spoke to Mid-Day about the nepotism debate and how she believes she shut people down. She reminded everyone about how she delivered a film like Gangubai Kathiawadi while being trolled for being ‘a product of nepotism.’ “So, who’s having the last laugh?,” she asked.
“At least until I deliver my next flop? For now, I am laughing! At the end of the day, use that to fuel your work,” Alia asserted. She further asked the audiences to not watch her films if they don’t like her. However, after a little pause, Alia did hope that she can prove to her fans that she is worth the space she is occupying.
Almost instantly, Alia, who is expecting a baby with Ranbir Kapoor, asked, “How can I control where I am born? How can I control what my parents were doing?”
The actress almost stated that the netizens want her to be embarrassed of the work her father has put in the industry, while adding that although she has easy contacts, there’s also a lot of working hard for where she has come. Alia further adds that she would ask her baby to do the same if he/she wishes to pursue acting.
Alia and Ranbir are working on screen in a full-fledged role for the first time in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. The movie, titled Brahmastra Part One: Shiva is expected to release in theatres on September 9.
The actress was recently seen in the Netflix film Darling, which also marked her debut as a producer. The movie, also starring Shefali Shah and Vijay Varma, has been critically lauded.
