The legendary epic Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is reportedly ready for production and will begin filming in December of this year, but Alia Bhatt has reportedly walked out of the movie.
According to the latest reports, due to dates issue, Alia Bhatt will not be playing Sita in the film. According to earlier rumors, Lord Rama, Sita, and Ravana will be played by Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and KGF star Yash. Alia Bhatt's departure from the movie makes it unlikely that Ramayana will start filming in December.
Pinkvilla quoted a source as saying, “It's understandable that a magnum opus like Ramayana requires time and intense pre-production work, as they are going into the smallest details of everything to get it right on the screen. Which is why things are progressing at a slower pace.”
The source added, “Also, as far as the casting is concerned, Ranbir Kapoor is still committed to playing Lord Ram, while Alia Bhatt - who was approached for the project - is no longer part of it. The actress was in talks for the role of Goddess Sita, but the collaboration didn't work out because of date issues.”
The insider stated that discussions between the celebrity and the team are still ongoing regarding Yash's potential role as Ravana in the production. Although he hasn't signed yet, the producers are confident about bringing him on board.
Recently, Om Raut and Manoj Muntashir adapted the Ramayana for the big screen. Prabhas and Kriti Sanon's movie Adipurush was a critical and financial flop.
