Alia Bhatt has begun her film production stint with a bang as Darlings, the latest Netflix original, continues to reap great reviews. The film premiered on August 5 and took no time to become one of the most watched pieces of content on the streaming giant: right from the novel “dark comedy” take on the subject of patriarchy to the central performances, both audiences and critics have praised several aspects of the film.

And now, according to the latest reports, Red Chillies Entertainment is all set to repeat the Darlings magic in both Tamil and Telugu. Yes, as per an exclusive report shared by Pinkvilla, the producers are super thrilled by the response to the film and keen on taking the relevant topic to newer milieus, with Tamil and Telugu being their best-preferred destinations.

Speaking about the same, film producer and COO of Red Chillies Entertainment, Gaurav Verma, shared that the team always intended on making Darlings in multiple languages, and the subject matter always had the potential to adapt to different sensibilities. While many production houses look to sell the remake rights following the success of a project, Verma added that Red Chilles wishes to see the film “grow in the right way”.

Darlings is a co-production venture between Red Chillies Entertainment and Alia Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions with Bhatt, Gauri Khan, and Gaurav Verma serving as the producers. The film has been co-written and directed by Jasmeet K. Reen, and stars Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Matthew.

With this exciting announcement made, all eyes would certainly be on the future casting choices as far as the Tamil and Telugu adaptations are concerned. The upcoming remakes are also likely to strengthen Red Chillies Entertainment’s bond with the southern film industry, particularly on the back of Jawan which sees Shah Rukh Khan collaborate with Tamil director Atlee and actors Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, and many others.
