The makers of hit films like Malli Raava and Agent Sai Sreenivas Athreya, Swadharm Entertainment, are releasing yet another small-budget flick in theatres today, Masooda. Featuring Thiruveer, Sangeetha, Kavya Kalyanram, Bandhavi Sridhar and Subhalekha Sudhakar in key roles, the film is a horro-drama written and directed by a debutant Sai Kiran. Given noted producer Dil Raju is releasing the film and the pre-release reports are good, many hope Masooda can spring a surprise at the box office.

In a press meet organised on Thursday, the film's director Sai Kiran shared, "We believed we've made a good film. I admit I'm nervous about the film's fortunes. I thank my producer for giving me an opportunity to tell this story and each every person who worked on the film. There's enough entertainment in it and the story is purely fictional. Masooda, the titular character, is all grey and the film is told from her perspective."

Thiruveer, the male lead, said, "I am generally known to scare people playing an antagonist or character roles. I was surprised when I was offered Masooda and I could never say no to such an opportunity. I didn't even ask them the story or my role but they gave me a full-bound script to read. I loved the story and enjoy dramas. I couldn't believe that Swadharm Entertainment approached me. It's very satisfying to have played such a character. I'll talk more about it once the film releases."

Kavya Kalyanram and Bandhavi Sridhar expressed their happiness in associating with team Masooda and called it a realistically made horror drama with appealing visuals and good music. Directors Swaroop RSJ, Venkatesh Maha, Vivek Athreya, Vinod Ananthoju and Sandeep Raj, who'd watched the film at a private screening recently, appreciated the effort of the makers. The film has music by Prashanth R Vihari and cinematography by Nagesh Banell.
