All of Us Strangers OTT release date in India - When and where to watch Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal's emotionally charged romance on streaming

Ranked among the year's most emotionally powerful pictures, All of Us Strangers is finally making its way to OTT in India. The film, which delves into LGBT love, loneliness, and loss over the course of its tight and harrowing 105 minutes, will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar on May 8, 2024. 

Overview of All of Us Strangers

Andrew Haigh wrote and directed the British romantic fantasy film All of Us Strangers in 2023, which is an adaptation of Taichi Yamada's 1987 novel Strangers. An isolated screenwriter (Andrew Scott) forms a bond with his enigmatic next-door neighbour (Paul Mescal), but he can't shake the ghosts of his parents (Jamie Bell and Claire Foy) and their history. It follows the 1988 Japanese film The Discarnates, which was the first feature film based on the book.

In the film, as Adam (Scott) goes about his usual routine in his nearly deserted London tower block one night, he has an unexpected meeting with his enigmatic next-door neighbour Harry (Mescal). Their budding romance takes Adam on a haunting journey back to his childhood home, where his parents (Bell and Foy) seem to be living out their final days to the letter.

Critical reception and accolades

All of Us Strangers received a plethora of positive reviews and generated significant discussion in the film industry, despite not receiving an Oscar nomination. Critics have praised the film, calling it "achingly tender" and "deeply affecting," with one describing it as "a hypnotic story of love and loss."

After having its world premiere on August 31, 2023, at the 50th Telluride Film Festival, Searchlight Pictures took All of Us Strangers and released it in the UK on January 26, 2024. The National Board of Review selected it as one of the top 10 indie films of 2023, and it received critical praise and six BAFTA Award nominations.

A lot of people would cry as they left the theatre after falling in love with Scott's Adam and seeing him deal with the loss of his parents. If you were unable to see the film in theatres when it premiered in January, or if you like it so much that you wish to watch it again and again, you can do it all from the convenience of your couch.
