This edition of the tournament, to be held between December 23 and 25, gets Duniya Vijay, Upendra, Ganesh, Shivarajkumar, Dhananjaya and Sudeep as team ambassadors
Dhruva Sarja makes way for Duniya Vijay as a team brand ambassador
For the second time this year, a large section of the Kannada film industry will take the field for the cricket tournament Kannada Chalanachitra Cup. To be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru from December 23 to 25, the tournament will have six teams, led by brand ambassadors Kiccha Sudeep, Shivarajkumar, Dhananjaya, Ganesh, Upendra and new member Duniya Vijay. The player auctions, which will determine who joins which team, will be held on November 26.
Talking to the media while overseeing the preparations for Sunday’s auctions, Sudeep addressed why the tournament was being held in Bengaluru again. The KCC organizers had planned to hold the last edition in Mysuru, but had to shift it to Bengaluru eventually. Sudeep explains that while some of the other cities in Karnataka have great stadiums, the available infrastructure cannot support the kind of matches to be played, or the crowds that are expected to turn up to watch their favourite stars playing cricket.
Meanwhile, the lineup of players at the auction will see some changes, depending on the availability of stars. Also, this edition of the tournament will include television actors as well. The actor also confirmed that this time, all the teams will play each other, unlike earlier, where the teams were divided into two groups of three each, with each playing two matches each and then deciding the finalists. KCC part IV will ensure that each team plays five round-robin matches. There will be no semi-finals, with the top two teams qualifying for the final. The international players who will be part of this edition of the tournament will be announced on November 26. The auctions will be live televast on multiple channels, added Sudeep.
