Allari Naresh is more wary than ever about his script choices and has stopped taking audiences for granted in the recent years. It all changed for the better with his crucial role in Mahesh Babu’s Maharshi and how he backed it up with another credible effort like Naandhi in 2021. He’s moved away from his staple comedies and has been particular about taking up story-driven films with new directors.

The actor was last seen in the rural drama Itlu Maredumilli Prajaneekam, directed by AR Mohan, which didn’t put up a good show at the box office, but garnered many eyeballs upon its digital release on ZEE5. He is now teaming up with Naandhi director Vijay Kanakamedala for a redemption thriller, in which he’s playing a cop who avenges the death of his near and dear.

While Ugram is gearing up for a release this summer, he has given a nod to two films - Nagarjuna’s 99th film being directed by writer Prasanna Bezawada and another project with Vijay Kanakamedala that’ll kickstart in 2024. Before the latter, Allari Naresh is set to commence work on a new project this August. The film will be directed by Subbu, best known for Solo Brathuke So Better.

The news was confirmed by producer Rajesh Danda of Hasya Movies in a press meet organised today. “I’ll be the solo producer for this project and it’s expected to start this August. I also plan to do a film with Vijay Kanakamedala besides another project starring Sai Dharam Tej,” he said. Rajesh had earlier produced Allari Naresh’s Itlu Maredumilli Prajaneekam too.

“While Itlu Maredumilli Prajaneekam wasn’t commercially successful, it earned plaudits from viewers as a credible film and was an OTT blockbuster,” Rajesh added. The producer has two other major releases this year too - Sundeep Kishan and director VI Anand’s fantasy film Ooru Peru Bhairavakona and Sree Vishnu’s Samajavaragamana. The latter is slated for a summer release.
